I can’t even remember where I found this recipe, but it is one of the best recipes – and so easy to do!  I used to boil the ribs the night before, make the marinade and leave it in the fridge overnight, but have found the SLOW COOKER so much easier, and they turn out tender and full of flavour!  The meat literally falls off the bone!  So delicious!  Best place in Singapore to get ribs is Meat Collective along Tanjong Katong!!/MEATS-&-BONES/c/13552206

125g Butter

1 medium Onion, chopped

1 Tbsp crushed Garlic

1/2 cup Vinegar

1 cup Water

1 cup Tomato Sauce

1 cup BBQ Sauce

Juice of 1 Lemon

Salt and Pepper to taste

2 to 2 and a half KG’s Pork Spare Ribs, cut to fit in the slow cooker –


  • Place ribs in the Slow Cooker

  • Melt butter in a frying pan and add the garlic and onions and cook until soft

  • In a blender, combine the vinegar, water, tomato sauce, bbq sauce and lemon juice.

  • Pour the melted butter mixture into the blender with the rest of the mixture and puree for 1 minute.

  • Pour the mixture over the Ribs in the Slow Cooker.

  • Cook for 5-8 hours, depending on the size of the ribs Great for BBQ’s or dinner for the kids (and adults, of course)!
